LOGLINE: Seeking a sanctuary to heal when reality plants weeds, a traumatized Mississippi high school senior retreats to her grandmother's magical garden to construct a vivid alternate reality: an America where slavery never existed.
Welcome to Natchez, Mississippi—a historic town draped in Spanish moss, Antebellum homes, and a heavy, unspoken history. For Selah Yates, the weight of this history becomes a harsh reality at just seven years old when an innocent school fundraiser ends in a traumatic, racially hostile encounter with a neighbor. As similar events compound throughout her youth, the deep emotional scars push Selah to the absolute brink. Seeking refuge from the suffocating reality of her environment, Selah retreats into the only place she feels truly safe: her grandmother’s lush, ethereal backyard, affectionately known as the Garden of Eden (GOE). But this garden offers more than just physical sanctuary. Now a high school senior with a fiercely vivid imagination, Selah uses the garden as a psychological canvas, constructing and mentally inhabiting a breathtaking speculative reality—an America where the institution of slavery never existed.
Within the protective borders of the garden, Selah navigates her coming-of-age journey. Kim Collins is an independent writer, producer, and the founder of Creative Group Media, specializing in immersive world-building and tech-assisted filmmaking. Her current active slate features the sci-fi short film Pivot: Goliath's Game, which serves as the visual launchpad for her role as Creator and Showrunner of the upcoming episodic tech-thriller, EYECON.
Alongside her television slate, Collins is the Producer and Writer of the in-development feature film Garden of Eden (GOE). Transitioning from a successful career as an automotive electrical engineer and the publisher of the niche lifestyle publication Flair Magazine, Collins leverages a formidable blend of technical precision and editorial curation. Operating from a "human-first" philosophy, she bridges the gap between grounded, character-driven storytelling and cutting-edge visual scale.
